Chapter One

1009 Words
"Sarah honey, time to get ready for school", Mum called from downstairs. I groaned and rolled off my bed hitting the cold hard floor. I winced and pulled myself up and walked into my bathroom looking in the mirror, I saw the results of staying up until the early hours of the morning preparing for this week's English assignment. My hair was sticking up everywhere, bags under my eyes and drawl on my face. I looked like the bride of Frankenstein. 'I won't argue with that', Anna said. See with us wolfs we have a second self the more animal side of us they take over when we shift, or when we want them to and they are with us from when we enter this world and when its time to leave it. Anna keeps me on my feet she's like an annoying sister that you can never get rid of, but she's also my best friend. I turned on the shower and let it heat up before getting in, I let the hot water run down my body before using my watermelon body wash. I rinsed it off and moved onto my hair, using my matching watermelon shampoo. If you can't tell already I love watermelon. I finished shaving and turned the water off, I opened the shower door and straight away the cold air hit my body making me want to get back in. I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around me as I rushed to my closet. It was your typical teenage closet minus the fact that I hated the colour pink. I chose to wear a long-sleeved grey top, light blue ripped skinny jeans, black and white Chuck Taylors with my forest green jacket. My hair was naturally wavy so I just blow dried it and let it fall to my hips. To make myself look more alive I added concealer under my eyes, powder to set the concealer, a little bronzer, mascara and lip balm. I grabbed my school bag that hung at my side and placed all my school books and papers in the bag. Then headed downstairs for breakfast the smell of coffee and waffles drifting up the stairs made me run faster. I checked my phone to see it was 8:15 am. I quickly calculated in my head that school starts in half an hour and it takes 10 minutes to get there meaning I had to leave now or I'd be late. I grabbed my keys from the counter, a waffle and my travel mug filled with coffee. I rushed out to my car, which my father gifted to me for my 17th birthday we had a certain style we liked. It was a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro it was my Grandfathers, he passed it down to his son and I loved the car so much my father decided to give it to me instead of my brother Gale. Once James dented it by accidentally hitting it with his retro built 1969 Mustang. I had him fix it and made him do all my homework for a month. No one messes with my car. I was driving to school when 5sos Try Hard came on, I started to sing at the top of my lungs and dance in my seat, trying not to crash. "She's dropping Outta School 'cause she don't need the grade", I sang taping my fingers on the staring wheel to the beat of the song. "Cause she makes me feel, makes me feel, Like I try, like I try, like I'm trying too hard", I sang probably sounding like a banshee. The song finished and I pulled up to the High school. The same Woodvale I remember from the other four years I spent at this school. A dull red brick building the colour faded over time, with cracked windows where jocks forget that the field is on the other side of the school. Students of various supernatural backgrounds sprawled though out the car park. Like any school we were multicultural but we catered to 60% werewolf, 20% vampire, 10% human and 10% other supernatural creatures. I saw carters and James cars and parked next to them, I got out and grabbed my bag from the passenger side before locking the doors. I walked towards the school, locking my baby. Once I entered the building I headed towards my locker looking at my schedule for today: -English -Maths - 20-minute break-- Gym Free Period -15-minute break-- Music I moaned and grabbed my English books but not long after my locker was suddenly slammed shut by the one and only Tom Miller. Tom was that one guy who girls would flock to and I won't deny it I did too, he was a human and me being me loved being reckless obviously he didn't know about us. There have been times where I thought he did know but as most jocks are all they worry about is their physique and the number of women they sleep with. Being with tom was so exhausting it's like trying to teach a dog how to ride a bike. I dated tom for about four weeks those were the worse four weeks I've ever had I was going to end it but he decided to sleep with Samantha who everyone calls the slimy Sammy because she's slept with half the football team. "Hey, I missed you over the holidays", Tom said, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me towards his chest. I wanted to be sick. You ever had that one person that as soon as you make eye contact with makes you want to vomit? Well meet Tom. I pulled myself from his grip and stepped back and looked at him. "Tom what's that word that best describes a man with no talent, no respect, no brain's or courtesy?", I asked and he looked deep in thought then shrugged his shoulders. "You", I said and I turned walking away knowing he wouldn't get it until an hour later.
