Audrey Miller is a chubby, baggy dressed 16-year-old introvert and socially awkward teen living with her father, step-mother and step-brother. Constant rejection, isolation and being a laughing stock of the entire Bridgetown High school fraternity are part of her daily obstacles she has to overcome. However, the urge to fit in instead of standing out is triggered when the handsome and popular Mason Klein miraculously shows interest in her. Convinced a chance to be like other teens has presented itself she gives in to what is her very first romantic relationship, the lines get a little blurred and Mason forgets he is there to win a bet. When it finally occurs to her that she is just a project, Audrey feels more humiliated than ever before but instead of descending back into depths of loneliness and struggling to find her worth, identity and sense of belonging she decides to work on herself. From the caterpillar rises a beautiful butterfly, so beautiful that Mason realizes his unusual possessiveness and feelings for her. He decides to win her back but he must regain her trust first.
