When Luke awoke the next morning, he was alone. Reaching out, he found nothing but cold sheets. He heard movement in Jocelyn’s bathroom. Yawning, he found her already dressed. Based on the steam still on the mirror, she’d showered, too. “Good morning,” he rumbled, hugging her from behind. “How did you sleep?” Jocelyn stiffened. “Fine.” Luke’s good mood soured when she wriggled free of his grasp. She didn’t say anything else, instead focusing on brushing her hair and putting it into a ponytail. “I’ll be heading out within the hour,” said Jocelyn. She met Luke’s eyes in the mirror. “I have to get to work.” “Ah. Work.” “And I have to pick up my rabbit from my sister’s. Also check in on my dad.” She grimaced. “I’ll need a cover story.
