When Jocelyn received the first voicemail from an old chef colleague, she didn’t think much of it. She’d forgotten about the voicemail entirely as she’d gotten swept up in work. Not only had she had to deal with multiple staff out sick, she had to contend with Kelly being mouthy and disrespectful.
Jocelyn took the girl aside after the dinner rush. She was pretty much at the point of wanting to fire her, but she also knew it would take way too long to find a replacement. Hazel Island wasn’t brimming with sous chefs just waiting to fill the role.
Kelly didn’t seem at all upset about being called into Jocelyn’s office. The girl looked impatient, and she kept tapping her foot, as if she wanted to annoy Jocelyn as much as humanly possible.
