On the day Luke would be served the divorce papers, Jocelyn came over to Alex’s for dinner. It’d been Alex’s idea for Jocelyn to come over. Jocelyn hadn’t been in Alex’s tiny studio apartment very often. More often than not, they’d seen each other at their dad’s. Despite its size, the apartment was filled with colorful posters, weird statues, and plants. So many plants. Jocelyn marveled that her sister could fit so much greenery in there. Alex didn’t have a kitchen table, so the two sisters sat on her couch in the living room. Jocelyn sipped her wine and waited. The two sisters hadn’t talked much since their fight a month ago. Jocelyn hadn’t had the emotional energy since her marriage with Luke had ended. She felt guilty about it, though. She should’ve been the one to invite her sister
