Reckless
(Axel’s POV)
My ankle was finally feeling like mine again. The tightness, the pain, the constant ache that used to shoot up my leg every time I so much as turned it wrong was gone. I’d spent the last week doing everything Maya Sinclair told me to. Rehab, rest, ice, exercises I thought were dumb until they worked. She knew exactly what my body needed and somehow, she figured it out in record time.
Other doctors had looked at me like I was done for the season. Some had even thrown around the word surgery. Maya didn’t. She’d looked at me with calm certainty and said, “You’ll play again.” And she’d been right.
