53. Hope and despair

Lola Tor, Lena and I walked into an almost deserted area. It looked like an abandoned farm, where only an old house stood in the middle of the dry grass and barren land. Everything seemed long dead except for a lush bush of white irises. Their sweet smell washed over me, making me smile. It meant something. I knew very well that flowers only grew in hell soil on rare occasions and special places. Those flowers must be a sign that Nina was here. Closing my eyes, I tried to feel it.
