I knew what was watching us. I felt his presence as soon as he reached within a few miles of me. Sjofn. He didn’t approach, he tried to stay undetected. I don’t think he realized I knew he was there, but I also didn’t have the energy to fight with him right now.
See the thing was, I didn’t have the fight in me for anything. I didn’t have the strength to reprimand my mate for walking out and not going through this together. I knew why I was off; I knew why I was clingier than I would ever have imagined, the problem was... I couldn’t tell anyone. I was alone in this, at least until Sjofn was dealt with.
