“Don't call me your mate again! I hate that word the most,” Egon growled, his dominating aura filling the entire house.
“What?” Emily gasped, taken aback by his sudden rejection of the mate bond.
“This 'mate' thing is only a burden. We should get rid of it soon. About the husband thing, stop doing this. It's just a marriage in name. It's a treaty. I don't give it any value,” Egon growled, and Emily could see no emotions in his eyes. He truly did not value their relationship. Her heart hurt, her wolf whimpered in her mind along with the broken heart. Emily already knew it was not a marriage for love, but she didn't want to hear this coming from her mate's mouth. It was digging up buried pain and sadness in her heart.
“So you hate having a mate? You hate me?” Emily asked, her voice tremb
