~Kareen~
I stayed in Rage's room after I delivered his food. I just stood at the right side of the door and waited for his order. I couldn't look directly at him because I was also starving. I still need to have breakfast.
I had to wait for Rage to finish his meal before taking the cutlery and cleaning the table. He was eating quietly, not giving me a gaze even once. Maybe he's still thinking about what happened earlier.
I'm curious about how long Rage was in a relationship with the girl who left. The girl became emotional and was disappointed by Rage's words, which proved she loved Rage.
"Have you eaten yet, Kareen?" Rage asked me after a minute of silence.
I fixed my eyes on him. He looked down at the food and ate the shredded chicken meat.
"Uh, not yet. Later after you eat," I replied.
"Take your food and join me here." He glanced at me.
I was surprised by his unexpected invitation to eat. I am okay if I follow him. I went out and went back to the kitchen to get some food. The other servant was there, having breakfast.
"Eat first, Kareen, so you have the energy to work," said Elena, a commoner who arrived at the palace with me.
"Thank you, but Alpha still wants food," I said.
I must be careful and avoid issues, so it's better to lie sometimes.
"It's up to you," said Elena.
I took a plate and put two chicken thighs on it. I only took mashed potatoes and other vegetables as carbs and side dishes. I'm not a big eater. I also took a glass of water. When I returned to Alpha's room, he was still eating while reading a book with a thick, black cover.
I gently sat in the chair opposite him. I can't wait to eat the mouthwatering food to sustain my hunger. I avoided looking at Rage but remembered some things I had discovered about him. It was just a pop-up in my mind, the moment when Rage argued with a woman.
And I remembered what the woman said to Rage; obviously, Rage wasn't happy in his previous life. It is sad to live in a palace for those who prefer to live freely.
"Don't you have a family, Kareen?" Rage asked, breaking the silence.
I looked at him and slowed down my movement. "No, I live alone," I replied casually.
"What about a mate?" he added.
I shook my head. "Neither; I didn't hang out with other wolves either. I left our pack to find a new job."
Rage wiped his hands and drank some water. His every move is so fun to watch, he looks innocent, and I think he doesn't do stupid things.
"Your life is boring, then you chose to work here," he said amusedly.
"There's nothing sad and boring if you love what you do. I've wanted to work here for a long time." I smiled broadly.
Rage's gaze turned to me, deep as if he was digging into my chest. My heart skips a beat. I ignored him and continued eating.
"Do you know what job you're getting yourself into, Kareen?" he asked me earnestly.
I was forced to look back at Rage and obliged to answer him appropriately. "Of course. I read the rules of the palace," I answered quickly.
"But you will not be going to serve the palace but me. Everything I want you to do, you must obey."
I know my job, which may include unexpected orders from Alpha. I'm ready to give him what he wants as long as he doesn't abuse me. In that way, I can get to know more about Rage. But I will do my best to change his unpleasant behavior. If I fail, I have the choice to withdraw from the agreement.
"Do you want anything not included in the job agreement I signed?" I asked him.
Rage stared at me intently. "A lot, and I will tell you what those tasks are when I need it. Especially now that Sasha is gone, there's no one to comfort me."
I smiled dashingly as I thought something odd.
Sasha is the human girlfriend of Rage, who was left behind. I'm not mistaken that Rage wants a new fling. I already expected that my future job would include pleasing him sexually. I didn't expect him to be attracted to me. I am not as beautiful and sexy as Sasha.
"I can't promise I can give you everything you want, sir. I have no experience with s*x. Besides, it's not right that you're forcing me to do something I'm incapable of," I firmly stated.
Rage chuckled. "Seriously? Are you saying you're still a virgin?" he shockingly asked.
"I'm proud to admit that, sir. No guy has ever passed through my life."
"But you accepted the job from me even though you knew the rules."
"Yes, I like it, but that doesn't mean I'm willing to be abused."
Rage smirked. "Do you think I'm abusive?"
"I'm not judging you, but I want to ensure that this job is worth dealing with without dragging my dignity."
"Then, don't worry. I want to enjoy my freedom while I'm not married yet. I know there are a lot of changes after marriage."
"Aren't you happy with your fiancee?"
"No, of course. I still need to meet the girl I'm going to marry. I don't even care, though." He giggled. "The important thing is that the king trusts me."
"But you like another woman. Don't you love Sasha?" I have persecuted him.
Rage suddenly acted distant, and he slowly drank water. "Women are just ornaments in the lives of us Lycans. Their purpose is to make us happy, give us an heir that will spread our bloodline," he said.
I felt annoyed with what Rage said. He insults women. Male Lycans are indeed different compared to wolves like me. They are more violent and do not care about women.
"If that's how you feel about women, you don't deserve to have an heir from them," I said sternly.
Rage glared at me, and he stood up violently. "Who are you to tell me that?" he yelled at me. He pointed his index finger at me.
I remained calm. "Sorry, I'm just telling the truth. Men who insult my fellow woman hurt my ego."
Rage clenched his jaws. "Your courage is strange, Kareen. But as long as you are in my custody, you need to lower your pride. Finish what you are eating, and you can leave!" he said, then left me.
I finished my food calmly; it seemed nothing had happened. Putting myself in the most challenging time never bothers me. I don't need to be stunned by Rage's ferocity. I should have teased Rage more to bring out his true nature.
Indeed, Rage started to feel upset towards me, but he didn't have a choice. The king would ask him if he would kick me out immediately.
Rage didn't come out of his room, so I had a chance to explore his room before leaving. I entered the yellow door, where I found a luxurious hangout facility. The thick glass surrounded the room; I could see the forest and river. Such an incredible view!
I guessed. Rage used the room to relax, work out, and maybe have fun with a woman. I sat on the racking chair while facing the beautiful nature view. It feels like rejuvenating my natural senses. And the rigid wooden backrest kneading my spine's muscles as I rested on it. This is so good!
"Hm…." I can't stop moaning.
I inhaled heavily to release some stressful thoughts and closed my eyes. I'm about to fall asleep when a heavy footstep comes towards me. It was too late to hide when a baritone voice echoed in the room.
"Why are you still here?" Rage asked sternly.
I twitched and faced the guy, distracted by his half-naked masculine body that almost drooped my jaws. I felt my throat dry, and I couldn't ignore his well-built muscles on the shoulder and chest, arms with visible veins, especially his abdominal muscles that parted into six. Rage was wearing a black boxer fitted, and his colossal armor inside formed.
I sighed as I tried to recover my lost sanity and raised my gaze at his sharp eyes.
"Uh... I-I am exploring your room's amazing facility to familiarize me," I explained to defend myself.
"Go, leave! I'll call you if I need something," he said.
I shyly smiled and approached the doorway. Rage was standing at the right side of the door, still staring at me, which caused me to heat my face. Rage's gaze hits me differently!
"Wait," he said.
I stopped and faced him again. I refused to look at his seductive body and waited for him to talk.
"Can you change your dress code?" he asked.
"But this dress was given by Sabrina. It's the usual servants' dress code."
"You're not a palace servant, Kareen. You are working for me. And that dress code needs to look better for you. You look like an old lady."
I pouted. "Okay. What am I going to wear then?"
"I'll give Sabrina money to buy your new clothes. Just give her details about your vital statistics."
I nodded to agree. "Anything else, sir?"
"Nothing. You may leave."
I move forward but can't stop glancing at Rage, and he goes to the racking chair and sits there.
While simply eyeing him, I realized how dim Rage's life was. I could sense his lone aura and was interested in digging out more about him.
