"What do you want?"
I did not have to look at Evaline to know why she was there. It was her chance to gloat, my plan failed and she won. She was not going to leave this chance to show how great she was.
I kept my eyes on the empty garden to avoid looking at her.
"I tried to warn you, didn't I?" Her tone was laced with love and care but the mockery in her voice was clear.
"If you are here to celebrate your win then go somewhere else," I spat, "you have done enough already."
She was standing behind me but I did not look back. She put her hand on my head, brushing my hair softly with her hand, "We are a family now, how could I be happy if you are sitting here, sad and alone."
