Chapter 60

1442 Words

Caylee I wake up with a start, instinctively knowing that something is very wrong. I feel the bed beside me and know, before my hand even touches the cold bedding, that Craig is not there, that he never even came to bed. Still, I need confirmation and my heart sinks when I see that his side of the bed is cold and empty. I quickly get out of bed and grab my nightgown before rushing downstairs. My stomach turns and my head pounds out a warning that I am too frantic to understand. I checked every room, the bathroom, his office, the guest rooms and the kitchen, but there was no sign of him. There is a foul scent coming from right outside the door and I nearly vomit as I take a step closer. I know that scent, I know who was here and I know who had taken Craig, but I don't want to believe it.
