Everyone waited with bated breath for Bart to respond to Elder James’ question.
“Bart, we’re all waiting. What would you have done?” Elder James asked again. Bart took a deep breath, squared his shoulders proudly, and looked at Jedediah dead in the eyes.
“I would have rejected her, but kept her in the pack until she gave birth. Son or daughter, I would take custody of my heir, and she would be sent back to her former pack,” Bart replied coldly, with no shame, no hesitation, and without a care.
