I took little to no notice of the fact that the door to my chambers slammed shut behind me once I found myself inside. My mind was a buzz of activity, the pace of my heart competing with the pace of my thoughts. I still found myself struggling to comprehend the fact that I had actually managed to leave Dae’s chambers, that u hadn’t succumbed to his so-called convincing. I was sure that staying there for a moment longer, would have ensured that I did not leave at all.
I let out a breath of air that I hadn’t even been aware of, feeling the tension leave my shoulders. I had the sudden urge to go for a walk, to get some fresh air and to simply clear my mind, but I knew that my chances of actually being allowed out, were slim to none.
