There were so many things that I could say, so many things that I could do simply to get back at him, to hurt him as much as I was hurting, but even as I thought of doing so, I knew that it would be pointless. The chances of it causing more damage than was necessary, or no damage at all, was greater than it needed to be. I wasn’t going to take the chance of wasting my time, especially not now.
