It seemed like my words fell on deaf ears, because her steps didn't even so much as falter after I spoke. It was like my words literally went unheard. Or perhaps, she had deliberately chosen to ignore me, and considering the way that she was behaving at the moment, I felt like it was something that was entirely possible. I nearly had no doubt about it, but I knew that it was best for me not to jump to conclusions, and to still give her the benefit of the doubt. It was the least that I could do, under the current circumstances.
