Hearing the tone of Elder Cara’s voice nearly made me take a step backwards, even though I hadn’t even stepped fully into the meeting hall. I could feel everyone’s eyes on me, and even though none of the council members dared to say anything, I could feel the judgement flowing off of them in waves.
I knew that this was going to be one of the most draining and aggressive meetings that I had ever had with the council, but I was willing to do what needed to be done. It would have come to this at some point and in regards to this situation, sooner was much better than later. I stepped into the centre of the hall, all the while being aware of the fact that Dae was behind me, hopefully supporting me.
