I could see it in her eyes. I could see that this was the very last place that she wanted to be, that she would have rather been buried six feet beneath the ground than to continue staying here and finishing this conversation with me. There was a part of me that felt some semblance of guilt for doing what I was doing, but at the same time, I felt that I was doing the right thing. If I didn’t put my foot down now, then we were going to spiral back into the very same habits that I had practically been begging for us to stop. It was now or never. I needed to know where we stood so that I could decide what I was going to do from here on out, so that I would be able to decide how I was going to approach any future interactions with her.
