Noah POV
My dad had called me to his office, he obviously needed something done, or he wouldn’t have bothered. It's not like we have any farther son chats or bonding.
But being a king is hard work, he’s hauled up in his office most days. Mum doesn’t even see him.
I look to Clarkson, the head of the Crown warriors with a grimace.
“Should I just pack now?” I asked him. I might as well just get it done. Clarkson was my age, and unfortunately for him, my closest friend.
“Don’t you want to go on another road trip? I can’t wait to get out of this stuffy castle!”
I laughed at his moaning. He was never one to be home for long. Itchy feet he had.
Everyone called Clarkson by his surname. His first name was Theodore, not exactly the name of a warrior. If I was really mad, I would call him by his full name just to wind him up.
“Honestly bro anyone would think you had to stay in the barn! Not the 2nd floor.” We laughed as we headed out. Clarkson grabbed his bag by the door, and I growled.
“I’ll pack and meet you there then.”
“Don’t take too long, we’ve got to get moving if we’re to catch the flight outta here.”
It's just great that I meant it was really serious if we were flying out straight away.
We lived in the Rocky mountains deep in the Montana wilderness. Out here in Montana, if you were human and you lived anywhere near us, you knew about werewolves. You knew about Lycans, and you accepted it. My father was just that powerful.
I headed to the 5th floor, where my apartment in the castle was. Each of us had a floor, from dad’s beta and his family. To the Gammer and his family. Dad and Mum and Clarkson.
As I reached my floor and the lift dinged open, I saw a familiar face waiting in the hall.
I inwardly groaned. What the absolute fuckery did I do to deserve this today!
“Chelsea, I’m on a mission for Dad. I have to leave now. I don’t have time for whatever this is.” I snapped at her and walked into the apartment and slammed the door in her face.
“Noah!!! This isn’t over!” she screamed and stormed off.
Well, I’d avoided that for the time being. Thank the heavens, maybe a road trip wasn’t such a bad idea. At least I’d be away from my bad decisions after too much bourbon.
Heading into my lounge, then the bedroom. I got to my walk-in closet and threw the pack of clothes from section 1 into a bag. I had the maid make up a couple of sections that I could grab on the go for such situations just like this.
My father does this a lot to me.
I quickly made my way back down, through the lift, then halls to the back of the castle where dad’s office was. All the maids and house staffs were busy dusting and cleaning. I said hello to those I saw on my way, I’d grown up with these people as my extended family. I wasn’t about to ignore them; now I’d grown up.
Dad’s Gammer Wolf Marcus came out of the office carrying folders and handed me one as soon as he saw me.
“You’re off again, kid. Try not to get into too much trouble this time!” He said while trying not to laugh.
“It was one time, like 5 years ago, man! Can no one cut me some slack?”
Grabbing the folder, I went into dad’s office and sat down next to Clarkson.
My dad lifts his eyes from the map; they are going over for a brief second. That’s all the acknowledgement I’ll be getting from him.
The maps are in the middle of the oval table that has a good 12 seats around it. The only ones occupied at the moment are Dad’s, his Beta Leo sits to his right and Clarkson next to Leo. Marcus has clearly just left the left spot, so I had plonked my butt there.
I lean over checking to see where it is we are going this time.
In the County of Quvania, the pack there is a good size. Boasting 7,000 wolves. Bordered between a tall mountain range to the North, a sea to the South, a tall mountain range to the East and a river to the West. The pack is isolated, and its nearest wolf neighbours are in another county.
Much like Montana, I think I’m going to like it there.
I press the button on the desk. “Lucy, could you grab my section 2 clothes pack, please, and take it to the car? It's going to be cold.”
“Of course, your highness.”
“Thank you.”
I take my finger off the button and glare at Clarkson.
“Really!!! You could have told me it would be cold.”
He holds his hands up in mock, surrender his, and wobbling as he pretends to be scared. But his eyes are laughing.
“I just wanted to see you in those short shorts again bro.”
“Enough you two; you have your destination. The rouges were spotted here. You have the hunters from the pack heading that way, and they will be there to help bring these rogue's down.”
“Yes, Alpha.” we all said, rising.
I and Clarkson made our way to the garage.
The crowns driver Tex was already outside, and Lucy was putting my luggage in the boot of the porche 4x4.
We head off... time to get this show on the road.
AMELIA POV
I had been called back to the packhouse to clean down after they had all had dinner.
I’m not usually called in after dinner, and it was after my training. So I had to drag my tired body one foot at a time over to the house.
Mark had already left for the Alphas office. So he wasn’t there to give me a lift.
I swear Eric and his parents do it on purpose! They’ve got some radar that pings when I’m completely feeling like crap and all I want is my bed. All I wanted was to turn round and flop on my bed for a good 8 hours.
As I walk in, I can see that no one has bothered to clean away plates. They are still all scattered on the table.
Just great.....
As I got to the table, Eric was there.
“I told everyone to leave their plates after you were daring to look me in the eye earlier.....Have fun.” he looked at me with disgust, then turned on his heal and walked away laughing.
Wow, that’s our future, Alpha! He’s sooooo humble, right? Well, at least I could get myself through this by making snarky comments in my head. Quvania Pack did lucky to have Eric as our future Alpha!
As I actually looked properly at the mess and realised how long it was going to take me, my blood started to boil with hatred for him.
The slimy limp d**k waste of space.
I looked at the absolute mess all the others had made, and I felt defeated.
Maybe it’s because it’s late and I’ve already been up and working since 4 am. Or maybe because I was likely to be here till 4 am, then I have to do another shift of cleaning the house and the delights of Eric’s room.
Ughhhh just the thought of more c*m stains made me gag.
Shaking that thought out of my head, I tried to look for where to even start!
Maybe I can get through this because tomorrow I’m a step closer to 18. In 2 hours even! It’ll be 5 days. I didn’t want to clean up their filth, but until I had my wolf and some sort of dominance or at least strength to say no and back it up. It's not like I’ve got a choice.
Someone had left half a bowl of pasta on the table for heaven's sake!
Who does that? Animals the lot of them and not in a good way! Or, more likely, Eric is going around, making everything more of a mess after the others left.
I can hear voices coming down the hallway. I hide behind the wall and sneak a glance. It’s Mark and Connor. Talking softly, Mark has his bag over his shoulder.
“You will meet Noah there and remember Mark he’s in charge of this search. You're there for his back up only; he will be calling the shots. Don’t think about doing any of your dominance stunts with him!” He half hisses the last bit to Mark.
“I understand my Alpha, I will not get into a dominance fight with the Prince!” He turned on his heal and walked away.
Omg! The Prince!
Mark was going to meet the prince!
He could get me out of here, he could make me a hunter. This is it, my ticket out of here. If I can just prove myself worthy to the Prince, maybe he will let me be a hunter??
Who am I kidding? He's no doubt worse than Eric and will send me straight back here for punishment. I'll be kept in the closet for a week again! There is nothing to eat or drink and a bucket for the company. I shiver as I remember my last vacation to the closet.
My mind was racing at a million miles an hour. I abandoned the dining room and walked out the door to the hall, my mind somewhere else.
I walked right into Eric’s chest. I could tell by the smell that it was him.
Ugh, he stank.
His massive hands grabbed the back of my tee-shirt and pulled me back. But I wasn’t relieved of his smothering body for long as he grabbed me by the throat and slammed me against the wall. His finger digging into my neck. Marking the bruising that was already there burn in pain.
He leaned down and sniffed my neck as I squirmed under his grip, trying my best to catch a breath. But it was useless.
“You think you're leaving? The kitchens the other way, Amelia. So where the hell do you think you're going?” he doesn’t loosen his grip for me to answer but instead presses harder and starts to lift me off the floor.
I’m clawing at his hands absolutely desperate for air now. My mouth is moving like a fish again as I try to suck in a breath that isn’t there. My mouth goes bone dry, and I’m starting to panic.
I’m going to die here with this piece of s**t.
My vision started to dim, and my limbs were going tingly. I had to get out of this, he wasn’t going to stop. I looked into his eyes and saw madness.
He’s really lost it, and that scared me more.
In a massive rush of adrenaline that I’m sure came as I was on the brink of death, I raised my knee and collided it with his balls.
He dropped like a sack of s**t, rolling around the floor, holding his manhood.
I collapsed to the floor and instantly made myself move before I passed out.
On shaky legs I ran, it was more of a wobble than a run at first. But I made it out the door of the packhouse just in time to see Mark speaking to the driver.
“Where we off, too?”
“They aren’t too far from the pack lands. Head South, then I’ll direct you.” Mark told the man and the other warriors that were going started to get in.
My head is still fuzzy and panic in my heart about being caught by Eric. I waited till they got in and raced for the boot of the truck. I flipped the catch and got in as quietly as I could and pulled the boot down after me.
“What’s that?” One of them asked.
“Just the boot playing up, been doing it for months.” the driver said, and I breathed a sigh of relief.
I wedged myself deeper into the large boot space, under the coats and bags I settled in for the ride.
The realization of what I’d just done hit me about 30 minutes in.
Noah POV
“Fat lot of good this lot are going to be; we come all the way from Montana and make it before them! I swear, they were only an hour and half away from the map point to start with” I grumbled at Clarkson, who was sitting on a rock making himself comfy like he didn’t have a care in the world.
My best friend had one of those baby faces that the girls loved. He hadn’t aged since 18, I swear. Females said he was the happy one; I just had a scowl for a permanent facial expression.
“Enjoy the time to relax! Stop your moaning!” He said to me.
Relax! Relax...
We are on a rocky mountainside in the middle of bloody nowhere. I should be relaxed and want to let my wolf out to run and be free. Out from under our father's nose.
A beat-up old 4x4 came around the verge about 5 miles away. They parked in the same woodland area we had, and then we watched as 5 men made their slow trek up to our point.
“Can they go any slower! The rouges will attack their pack any minute, and they are taking a leisurely stroll. No wonder they were late.”
Just as the words left my mouth, I realised there were only 4 of them walking up now.
“Hey!” That was all Clarkson got out of his mouth before a man with greying hair steps out of the dence woodland right by him!
