“No, just let her be, moy tsvetochek,” he said and embraced her instead, kissing the top of her head.
“But she’s your sister. You can’t tell her she’s unwelcome here in our home,” she gently protested.
“It depends on her. If she behaves, then there’s no reason for her to be unwelcome in our home.” He cupped her face and looked into her eyes. “Thank you for being so understanding to her regardless of her insults, but I can’t just let her offend you more like that.” He sighed a little. “You are my wife, Rosetta. I don’t want you to be hurt even by my own family. If Papa hadn’t intervened, she would have already been dragged by security or worse. In the meantime, she’s banned from entering the premises of our home.”
