I pressed my lips to Seren’s forehead as lightly as I could, breathing in her sweet scent one more time before I left our room. The sun wasn’t up yet, but that couldn’t be helped. We needed to get on the road to Blood Moon quickly this morning. Our best chance of taking over the pack with as little bloodshed as possible was surprise and stealth, and the sooner we got there, the better.
She barely stirred. Her breath was even and deep. Yesterday’s run took more out of her than she realized, and I’ve been kicking myself for letting it go for so long. First runs are always more exhausting on the shifter. I just couldn’t bear to cut her joy short when she was finally free to run with Kara.
‘Mate will be fine. Just needs sleep. She needed the run yesterday.’ Conn grumbled.
