The shaft of moonlight glowed brightly, spilling down from the open sky like something alive, illuminating Seren in its silver shine. It caught in her hair, turned her skin luminous, and for one breathless moment she looked less like a woman and more like a vision pulled straight from legend. Her smile as she looked at me was brilliant—soft and stunned and full of wonder—and the awe and joy rushing through our bond hit me hard enough to steal the air from my lungs.
As the moonlight slowly faded, drawing back into the heavens, the night seemed to exhale with us. Seren’s fingers tightened around mine, grounding us both, and together we turned to face the guests gathered before us.
