Chapter 11
Darkness.
Nothing but pitch black darkness.
I must have passed out. I try to move but I can’t. It’s like I’m floating and completely unresponsive. I’m feeling immensely disoriented and barely conscious when I start to hear quiet voices around me.
“She fainted, sire.” A solemn voice that I recognized as Lux says.
Someone in the room click’s his tongue in annoyance. This person has no care at the volume of his voice. It’s Asterio, no doubt. “Of course, she did. She’s human. She’s weak-“
A low powerful growl that prickles my skin quiets Asterio. I hear movement in the area. Suddenly, a warm hand places itself on my forehead and it’s like a burst of fireworks erupt at the contact.
“You’ve cured her of the fever. She was just surprised.” Lux quietly says from across the roo
