I had been so unsure of whether I should talk to Zaahra, but she seemed so relieved to find out Ares didn’t blame her for my injury that I was glad I had taken the chance.
I think that had been one of the reasons she was still awake - she thought that Ares would punish her for something she hadn’t even done, and that nobody would believe her if she tried to defend herself.
I could see that now - I knew that Ares was just a man who was not sure he was doing the right thing, and that Zaahra was just a woman who was worried about her future.
