Later… that was easy enough to say, but it felt like an eternity when I couldn’t do anything and I had to sit around with Zaahra staring at me half the time.
I tried not to let what Ares had said get to me. I hadn’t suspected her at all before that, -and I had thought a lot about whether she could possibly be involved somehow when I was alone and unable to move by that tree.
The only way she could possibly have been involved was if she asked Aleks to do something to me, and I don’t think that he would have been able to keep that from Ares...and there was something about the way she was acting now that made me think she probably had no idea about it. She realized Ares would find that difficult to believe.
