CHAPTER TWELVE On an unseasonably warm day in October, Gwen, Jocelyn, and Alex decided to spend the day at the beach, along with seemingly the rest of the island. Felicity was sick at home with a bad cold. Alex had felt guilty leaving her, but she'd urged Alex that she'd be fine on her own. Alex stretched her legs, basking in the sun. Families played in the water, while others built sandcastles as best they could with the rather rocky sand. The beaches tended to be covered in driftwood as well, which was great for bonfires but not so great for lying out in the sun.
