CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO Christmas was a strange affair in the Morrison household. Logan had barely spoken about his running away, while Pen had been tearful on and off leading up to the holiday. During the morning when they opened presents, Logan seemed sullen and uninterested in any of his gifts. Pen, at least, seemed more excited than her brother. Aaron was just tired. So tired that it didn't seem to matter how many hours of sleep he got. Not only was he worried about the kids, he missed Alex. Every night, he thought of how she'd shown up to help him, no questions asked. It only made him think that her angry words had been lies. Which begged the question: what should he believe?
