Much to Kate’s surprise, Rikka couldn’t hack the Cooks Network security cameras from here. After all, she’d had Rikka set up that security system.
“Didn’t you insert a backdoor code or one of those things you do?”
Rikka actually looked chagrined as she reenabled the Port’s system and let the employees log back in to return to their workday.
“What?” Kate could see that the work orders were again flowing out to the cranes and the yard. Everything slowly regained its momentum.
“I didn’t leave any backdoors in your system, Kate. I locked it down hard, just like you asked, and clean, like I, well, haven’t done before or since. I wanted yours to be done right. I owed you.”
