***Next morning***
"Yes sir. I'll be coming over later in the day. Just to come see how things are going over there. You don't have to worry at all just consider it all ours because as far as I know BZEE Inc is the largest Dig Tech company in the whole of this city so what makes you think we can lose to all this one-man team you call a company?" Dad bellowed wittingly into the phone filling up every corner of the house with his voice this morning.
Of course it was yet again one of his numerous business calls.
I had woken up just immediately to hear Dad discussing about business with someone via Skype in the dinning area before this call also came in shortly after.
"Don't worry. We will talk later okay when I get to the office. Bye for now." Dad this time putting down his phone from his ears.
"Damn. Everyday calls.. calls and calls" Dad said lamenting as he stood up
"Well that makes you a pro in the field you know" I teased walking towards the kitchen
"Certainly not" Dad replied walking towards the dinning table.
"Amanda do whatever you are doing quickly we are running late already" Dad said pulling out a chair to sit down.
"I'm almost through Dad" I yelled from the kitchen.
Turning off the burner, I placed the kettle on the kitchen counter and got some tea cups from the cupboard.
I walked over to the other side of the kitchen to get the beverages and came back later.
Walking out of the kitchen, I carried the two steamy cups of tea and headed for the dinning table and placed a cup of tea in front of Dad as I got to the dinning table.
"Well done" Dad said as I pulled out a chair beside Dad to sit down.
"Thank you sir" I replied
"Don't worry I'll soon get us a maid just be patient dear" Dad said sipping on his tea.
"Ok sir" I replied
"By the way why didn't you make coffee today?" Dad asked staring at me
"Well nothing. I just felt like maybe we should try out something different today" I replied looking away.
"Alright then" Dad said wiping off his mouth with a piece of paper towel.
"You're done already?" I asked in bewilderment
"Yeah. Why are you asking?" Dad asked
"Nothing really I'm just surprised at how fast you could finish so quickly considering how hot the tea was" I explained in a tight but yet audible voice
"Oh that… It's no big deal at all. Back then we use to eat something hotter than this" Dad said after letting out a chuckle
"I see. If it were to be I bet I'd lose my tongue in the process of doing that." I said
"Probably yes." Dad said clasping his hands.
I quickly gulped down the remaining content and stood up.
"Seems like you are through" Dad said.
"Yeah" I replied
"Alright then let's get going" Dad said getting up from his seat as well
"Just give me a minute let me take these to the kitchen" I said taking the tea cups into my hands and walked away.
"Now we are free to go" I announced as I returned back from the kitchen.
"Ok" Dad said and with that, walked towards the door while I followed him from behind but stopped by in the sitting room to carry my backpack.
When I got outside, Dad had set the engine roaring and waiting patiently for me so I hurriedly walked to the car and got in.
"What made you take so long to come outside?" Dad asked, immediately I got into the car.
"Nothing. I just went to carry my backpack from the sitting room." I replied fastening my seatbelt after placing my backpack by the other side of the passenger's seat.
"Okay. I thought a zombie must have trapped you inside and was already panicking" Dad replied, making a sad face as he drove into the major road.
"No, not at all" I said laughing hysterically.
"I was already planning on begging for your freedom should in case he wants to devour you" Dad added bursting into laughter
"You aren't serious Dad" I said looking away.
"Of course I'm so very serious" Dad replied honking at the sport car in front
"No you aren't…." I replied taking my gaze off the road.
"Who said I'm not serious here?" Dad asked grinning
"Me of course" I replied
Dad chuckled and throttled away.
Hardly had we gotten to the school gate when a call came in from the office informing him to come over soon. That there was an emergency at the office so Dad dropped me off at the gate am drove away in a rush, speeding as if he was being chased by the cops while I walked through the gate and headed for my class alongside other students hurriedly trying to get to their respective classes on time.
I got to my class and quietly walked to my seat after scanning through the whole class in search of Tamara.
Probably she wasn't yet in school or she must have gone out of the class before I came.
Resting my head on the locker, I began to think about how the day in school will go today as I impatiently waited for Tamara to show up.
Hardly had I finished thinking about Tamara when a figure walked past me and sat beside me.
Of course nobody else could have sat down beside me apart from Tamara so I turned towards her direction to be sure it was her then looked away when I noticed she was actually one.
And thinking of a way to start a conversation with her, after much hesitation, greeted her while she refused to answer me.
"Tamara look I'm sorry over what happened yesterday ok. I shouldn't have acted that way towards you in the first place" I said apologetically.
"It's fine I am not angry dear." Tamara said flashing me a radiant smile.
"Are you sure?"I asked again
"Yes dear. In short come here" she replied stretching out her arms for a hug and I when I did we both hugged, holding unto each other tightly for some seconds like our life depended on it before breaking away while the whole class watched in admiration.
School continued thereafter normally with teachers bombarding us with numerous lessons and notes till dismissal.
