NO LET'S GO RIGHT

Immediately Dad left for his room in anger, I stood up and cleaned the dry patches of tears on my face then began to move about aimlessly in the sitting room as a million and one thought began to swivel in my head per second. I'm not sure I've ever seen Dad in this mood. I guess he is really upset with Mum for lying. I really wish I can help out in some way but I can't. I will just have to watch everything unfold before my eyes. "Hey! Amanda what is wrong?" A voice waffled from behind then I quickly turned only to see Aunt Mena also moping around like a ghost. "Nothing really Aunt Mena. I'm just doing a little exercise. Actually, I got tired from sitting on the couch for too long so I decided to take short walks around the sitting room for some time." I said stealthily, beaming with smiles " Oh I see. If so why don't we go take a short together outside just to get some fresh air" Aunt Mena suggested " Well, if I have to come with you then I'll go take permission from Dad first" I replied "Oh yeah. That's true. But we won't be going too far. Just somewhere around the neighborhood then we'll return home so I don't think you need to do all of that. He won't be too mad besides if he knows we both left the house he won't worry much again." Aunt Mena said, persuasively "Ok. Let's go then" I said after much hesitation " Come and lead the way" Aunt Mena commanded, making way for me as we both headed for the door " Was that necessary?" I asked as we got outside " Yes. It was" She replied "Seriously?" I asked with a quaky voice "Yeah. Haven't you heard of the rule?" Aunt Mena asked "What rule?" I asked, all confused "The rule that says, kids first then the adults" she said with a smirk "I haven't heard a thing as this all my life Aunt Mena" I said softly "That's because you haven't probably read the 'mild' or have you?" She asked "Really? What is that?" I asked, halting for her to open the polished wooden gate as we got to the gate. "It is a comic book for kids" Aunt Mena said opening the gate then we both walked out of the gate "That's just a silly rule in some damn book. It doesn't have to be used in real life" I rebuffed " Well. That's not true. It can be applied" Aunt Mena countered "Now where do we go from here? Left or right my noble mistress?" I said with a bow as we entered the street " Hey Silly girl! I'm not your mistress" Aunt Mena muttered laughing hysterically " Maybe we should go left, or what do you think?" Aunt Mena asked still standing transfixed at same spot "No. Let's go right" I cooed and began to walk ahead of her to the right "Hey! girl stop being an overly dramatic psycho" Aunt Mena blurted out when she couldn't match my pace "Huh" I said, slowing down "Yeah. You heard me right!" She added "I thought we both agreed on this Aunt Mena" I said gawking at her as she gaited from behind "We both agreed on what?" She asked, giving me a cursory look "I thought we both agreed to go to the right" I replied "Oh well the last time I checked I didn't do anything like that. I'm just trudging behind in order to fulfill my master's wish" Aunt Mena said sarcastically. " You can't be serious Aunt Mena are you?" I asked "Of course. I'm very serious" she replied "Well that's good of you and your master will reward you for your loyalty" I teased and we both continued plodding away "Seems like my master is always indoors huh?" Aunt Mena whined as we got to a lawn "Umm… yeah not like I want to though" I said nonchalantly "My friends and classmates all live many miles away from here and I've got no other friends in the neighborhood" I added with a shrug "You mean you don't have a friend in this whole place?" Aunt Mena asked in disbelief, using her hands to gesticulate "Yeah. I don't have any friend around here" I replied "But why?" She asked "Maybe because I'm always indoors" I replied coldly "You think so?" She asked " Umm… yeah and then maybe because we have no kid around our house" I added softly as we approached the grocery store belonging to the Bakers family. " Oh!" She exclaimed " What?" I asked thinking to face her "Nothing really. I was just wondering about something else" she said "And what could that be?" I asked "Never mind dear. It has nothing to do with our discussion so there is no point telling you about it" she replied looking at the grocery store which was now lighted up with blue transcending bulbs, throwing off light into the other side of the street " Hey, that's the only grocery store in the neighborhood. It is owned by the Bakers family. Their mum is their mother's friend." I explained calmly " Oh really? " She asked stopping abruptly to take a good look at the store "Yeah" I replied softly with a smirk "Wow cool! But why did we have to drive to the other grocery store so far away from here to get those household goods the other day?" She asked " Perhaps Dad just wanted…" I said then trailed off "What did you say?" She asked "I mean maybe he wanted to drive to a far location to get those stuffs" I said defensively, knowing quite well that he actually did that to avoid having to answer questions about Mum's whereabouts "Oh I see. I guess this is the end of our voyage. It's getting late already and who knows Dad maybe looking for us now as we speak" Aunt Mena said peering at the other side of the street. "Yeah that's true. Let's go home then" I cooed and we both turned and began to walk back home. The walk home was a very quiet one with the sun setting quite fast leaving the cloud almost gloomy with darkness and Aunt Mena focusing on the road and me glancing at building structures as well as vehicles speeding passed us at top speed as we managed to amble with the bleak light from the sun quite slowly home.
