I stood there awkwardly trying grasp what Dad just said.
Letting out a long sigh, I turned and looked at Aunt Mena who stared back at me before I walked away to my room.
I didn't need to do much to look my best so I will just keep it simple.
Walking over to my closet I picked a pair of sky blue denim jeans and a white top then changed into it.
When I was done, I walked over to the dressing table then picked up the lip gloss applied some on my palm then used it to massage my lips and stealing one glance at my reflection in the mirror I sighed when I saw my hairstyle.
It looked all messy and tattered.
Time was running out quickly and I know Dad would soon come knocking on the door to inform me that it was time to go.
Seeing that it was impossible to remake my hair before going out, I sighed and walked back to my closet then picked a pink hoodie.
"I will just hide my face in it and answer all the questions I think I can answer to the best of my ability" I muttered to myself as I stood in the mirror admiring the hoodie then walked out of the room.
Just as I was about making a turn to head for the sitting room as I got out of my room, I heard Dad's door clicked and he also walked out of the room all dressed casually with a parcel dangling in his right hand.
For a moment, I lost my senses as I just stood there staring awkwardly at him.
It was so absurd to see Dad dress like this especially when he was going out.
"Perhaps he was so tensed and couldn't think of something nice to put on" I said to myself then shrugged my shoulders
Sensing that I was gawking at him he walked over to my direction then snapped his fingers in my face then asked.
"Are you done dressing up?"
"Umm... yes Dad" I replied, stuttering then looked away
"So can we go now?" Dad asked giving me a cursory look
"Umm... all dressed up like this?" I asked staring at him
"Yes... What is wrong with this I am putting on? " Dad asked, looking at his shirt then returned the gaze back to me
"Nothing I'm just surprised" I said calmly
"Surprised about what Amanda? " Dad asked
"I mean I haven't seen you dress this way when you going out so I'm surprised that you are going to the station all dressed like this casually" I said solemnly
" Oh about that?...Are we going on a date or to go file this in the station?" Dad asked, raising up the parcel in his right hand.
"To go file those stuff in the station of course" I said calmly
"Then let's go my dear. Time waits for no one darling" Dad said then started plodding slowly towards the staircase after casting me glance.
"Aren't you coming with me anymore?" Dad yelled then started climbing down the stairs
"I'm coming Dad" I said then started for the stairs too.
When we got out of the house, I looked back as I realized we have left the house without informing Aunt Mena.
"Is Aunt Mena not going to come with us?" I asked staring at Dad
"Oh no she can't. We don't need her at the station so she has to stay back and watch over the house" Dad said then opened the car door before lowering himself on the seat.
"But aren't we going to inform her before leaving the house?" I asked still standing close to the door
" It's not necessary Amanda. Get into the car let's go please" Dad commanded then I walked to the backseat and entered the car.
After fastening my seatbelt firmly across my chest, I sat back and leaned against the seat then Dad jerked the car engine to life, reversed before driving out of the house.
"We will first make a quick stop at the Arvis... I want to get some paper work from a friend" Dad said after heaving a sigh.
Just before he could finish speaking, a call came in from his phone then he tapped the steering wheel before picking up the phone.
"Hey seems like you think real fast. I was actually about to put a call across to you before your call came in" Dad said into his phone
"No. Don't tell me you aren't at home" Dad added with a smirk
"Ok give me some minutes. I will pull over right infront of your street" Dad bellowed wittingly into his phone then the line fell dead as he took the phone from his ear.
This man seems to be a tough nut to c***k. He isn't bothered about the letter at all. I mean if he was bothered about it in the first place he won't be here cracking up like a keg of beer.
Probably, he is just trying to conceal his fear afterall anyone in his shoes may try to do the same.
"Hey you still awake huh" Dad asked turning to stare at me
"Yes Dad I am" I replied then leaned forward
"Ok... That's good of you" Dad replied with a smile then returned his gaze back to the road
"What does he mean by that?" I asked rhetorically thinking about what he just said
"Can please get me that pen?" Dad asked throttling at the accelerator pedal
"Which pen?" I asked turning to look at my side
"I don't really know but it somewhere at the back there. Just check that side very well" Dad replied and I nodded then started searching for the pen.
After ransacking every nook and cranny of the backseat, I stretched out the pen to Dad said
"Dad, here it is"
"Oh thank you darling" Dad muttered then collected the pen from me before returning his gaze back to the road.
