13 Jeannie didn’t wake alone. She’d half expected to. Half expected Cal to be walking down the river, hiking out to avoid her questions. But he lay there dead to the world as the last stars faded with the beginning of the day. She tried exploring her own feelings with no luck. They were still a jumble.
