The next day, I wake up still in Daniels lab. Mason is quietly sleeping with his head rested on the bed sitting on a chair.
I died two more times last night. It's so painful. My whole body feels like it burns from the inside out. Every time, it has taken longer and, while before I was in constant pain, now it's more bearable. I think my body is getting used to it somehow. But I am worried about something. Gaia hasn't talked to me at all. I can barely feel her. She is there but it's like, she is dormant, sleeping.
Daniel walks over to me and notices that I am awake.
"Are you in pain?" He softly asks so as not to wake Mason up.
"No, not right now."
"That's good." He looks at me squinting his eyes and gets closer looking into my eyes.
