“So, did you tell him?” Jeremy asked when he called Amira later that evening to check up on her and Xavier. “Not yet,” she said in a soft tone. “Amira,” came his drawled reprimand. “I want to break the news to him when he gets out of the hospital, not before then,” she told him. “As long as it is on your to-do list,” he said in a lighter tone. “Yeah, it is now,” she told him. “No worries. It’s just that the pregnancy wasn’t planned. I’m not sure how he’ll react, Jer.” She couldn’t not confide in her best friend. If she didn’t tell someone her fears, she would implode for sure. “Oh, he better react well or I’ll be coming for his head,” his threat sounded like a real one from his tone. “Jeremy,” she giggled. “What? I won’t stand for him hurting you again,” he said seriously.
