I sat on that cot with my knees under my chin, not speaking to anyone watching all the women and children start piling into the shelter and Sophie started pushing her way through.
She sat on the cot next to me and put her arm around me.
“How are you doing?” She asked. But I just shrugged my shoulders. That’s all I could come up with right now. I didn’t know what to say. There was nothing to say.
We were being attacked because these people wanted me. And I didn’t know if the rest of the pack knew that or not.
I don’t think they did. No one was looking at me like they knew. And I don’t think Alpha Joseph would make me the subject of ridicule like that. Especially if he would have to tell them why these people were after me.
