CHAPTER SIXTY-TWO I could hear Lucian’s voice downstairs since she walked in. At first it was a mere chuckle yet so beautiful. Then he’d greeted my mother so enthusiastically before Thomas and everyone else. I’d missed the sound of his voice and the sound his laughter. It was refreshing-no, healing. It warmed my heart in ways that nothing else did. It was medicine to the emptiness clawing in my insides. Had I made a mistake in staying away from him? He hadn’t called or texted since that night we’d taken time away from each other. Or had we broken up? I couldn’t tell.
