It was not that I hate being on stage or that I got to the point where I have stage fright; if that was my case, I would not have accepted joining the play that we did at the university ball. I simply do not want to be up there and give a speech solely because I was the top student, even if it is the university’s tradition. I believe that they cannot still force me if I refuse to do it.
My decision was final that even my parents could not stop me when I told them my plan of not giving my speech. Mom wanted me to give one; I saw how much she wanted me to be on the stage even without saying it that way. Though she did try to convince me, she later on gave up especially when dad interfered and told her I should just do whatever I want because I was the one who put the effort into
