Josiah Amani had spent the past week teaching me how to use the washing machine, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, and mop. I knew how to clean, and I struggled with all of it. It was all easy enough and while I did tend to clean more than necessary in one spot, I didn’t want to do this type of thing every day. It was boring. It was time-consuming, and it was, admittedly, tiring. Amani had shown me how to clean and polish the floors until they sparkled and that meant I wanted the floors to sparkle every single day.
