Leonardo woke up just as the sun was going down. The air was calm, the silence comforting. He felt... refreshed. For the first time in days, his mind wasn't racing. The heaviness in his chest had lifted, and the ache that had shadowed his heart was now soothed by the warmth curled beside him. He turned his head and looked at her—Elena. Peacefully sleeping. Her long lashes rested against her cheeks, her breathing soft and steady. How could he have ever made her feel unloved, unwanted? He looked at her for a moment longer and then made a silent promise to himself. “I won’t ever make you doubt my love again, Elena.
