I hadn’t realized until late in the afternoon that I hadn’t seen my sister Irene, or my mate, Faye all day. It struck me in that quiet, almost unsettling way you notice something is missing from the rhythm of the day. Breakfast had been easy to skip, as usual. I wasn’t much of a morning eater, and lately, the meetings and patrol reports had been enough to drag me away from anything resembling a normal routine... however, I made an exception for the gym today.
