Chapter Thirty-Three Erik couldn’t believe he was listening, on purpose, to a man who was convinced the Navigators were hidden on Earth as platypuses. Strange and dark things had happened since Erik’s return to Earth, but there was a line that separated reality from what could only charitably be called batshit-craziness. Garth’s evidence remained unconvincing. Alleged assassinations could be explained without reaching for a dark conspiracy, and a conspiracy theorist would constantly try to pattern-match strange circumstances to his worldview, especially when trying to deal with the cruel realities of the sudden deaths of friends.
