[Prima]
22nd December, Umbraculum de Raleigh Bedchamber
My body felt fatigued in the morning. I couldn’t get up. My body is sore, and my arms and legs are numb. Worse, I have an excruciating headache. If I could only use magic at the grand ball last night, I would. But I don't want to worry my mother.
Now, I realized Selina's work isn't easy as I thought. Last night was so tiring. I could have freeze Princess Mathilda for being such a brat. I never know she's a different person outside of Egilson. I look up to Mathilda for being a role model princess, but I am wrong. She isn’t the woman for my twin brother Teagan. I am hoping Teagan will change his mind about marrying his childhood sweetheart that has a heart of an evil princess.
I knew Mathilda recognized who I was last night, but she continued to spur. She was enjoying commanding me of what to do. Thilda was having a great time ordering what she needed as if I was her lady-in-waiting.
I was consumed by the challenging work last night. It's hard for me to get my body out of bed. My tiredness engulfed me. I did not notice that my brother, Teagan is already inside my room.
"Prima, wake up," Teagan said as he lightly taps my shoulders to wake me up.
“I wanted to sleep more, brother. Please leave me alone.”
“Rise and shine, princess. It’s lunchtime," he replied.
"I want to sleep in, please."
"We did not see you in the breakfast hall, so we figured you were probably sleeping in.”
"I feel so tired. You are not allowed at my chamber, brother. How did you get in?"
"Olivia."
"Oh, she let you in?” I asked.
Olivia left me last night to sleep at the lady maids' quarters. Although I already told her she could stay in my room, she wanted to stay with the rest of the chambermaids in the Le Conte Palace.
“Yes,” Teagan replied, helping me to get up.
“Aww! My shoulders and arms hurt.”
“I’m sorry, sister. We couldn’t help you last night," Teagan said apologetically.
My brothers did nothing wrong. It was my choice to pretend a chambermaid. The only thing I did not expect was for Theo to treat me rudely and ill-mannered. He was acting like he never knew me at all. Theo did not recognize that I am Prima Lakeisha because I was wearing a mask. I wonder why he did not know me because I remember going hunting with him and Malik. That was a year ago. He wasn't good-looking for me then. I did not feel that longing to be with him. There was no spark. In fact, I despise him.
“It’s okay. Sentinels are destined to sacrifice. Where is Via?"
"Oh, I asked her to get your warm bath ready. You have fallen asleep without changing your clothes, princess."
"Ugh! Oh my god! I am so sticky, filthy, and stinky."
"Get up and wash up. It would help if you rested today. Don’t go out of your room and no sneaking and wandering around in the forest, Prima."
"But they know me as the lady maid of Bethencourt's brothers. I must tend to your needs."
"Rest, Prima. We can take care of ourselves. You don't have to tidy our rooms today. We will do it ourselves."
"Aww! I am touch, so, sweet of you, brother."
"You have to rest so you can come hunting with us tonight," said Malik, who just entered my room, followed by Byron and Lucas, who was holding a tray in his hands.
"Brunch for our princess," said Lucas, "how you are doing?"
"I'm tired. So, tired,” I pouted my lips and had my puppy face. “I never know being a chambermaid is needing dedication and perseverance. Most of all, loads and tons of patience. I wonder how all our servants puts up with me."
"Obviously, they will lose their work in the palace if the lady maids don't tend to your needs," Teagan.
“Right, brother? I wonder why father loves you so much,” said Malik.
“Don’t start it, Malik.”
“What? I am just saying you are father’s favorite.”
“Well, yeah, but mother loves you all four than me.”
“That’s because mother wished for boys, but father wished for a girl.”
“Oh, well. The moon goddess blessed them with both,” I replied.
“So, Prima? Are you up for hunting tonight?” asked Byron.
“It’s the full moon,” said Lucas.
“We will see. I must pick up some twigs and logs in the woods. The butler told me it’s part of my responsibility to replenish the firewood in Mathilda and Helga’s fireplaces.”
“We’ll help you,” said Malik.
“Are you sure you are helping me, Malik, or you only want me to freeze your deer?”
“I’ll help you. I promise.”
“Hear that, brothers? Malik promised.”
“Well, that if you help will team up with me over those three boneheads.”
“Are you kidding me? You are a bonehead too.”
“No, certainly not.”
“Prima, eat your porridge before it comes cold,” reminded Teagan.
Teagan stood frozen, sitting beside me, looking at Olivia, who just came out of my bathing room.
“Prince Teagan, Princess Lakeisha bath is now ready. I prepared warm water with rose petals and lavender oil as you requested to relax her body,” announced Olivia.
“Will you help her bath?”
“Yes, your highness.”
“Oh, call me Teagan, Olivia. Please call me Teagan when no one is around.”
“But I can’t. I cannot. You are a prince. I am a mere servant.”
“It doesn’t matter, Olivia. My sister adores you, so do we.”
"Yes, Olivia. Once Teagan marries you. You will no longer be a servant," I said, winking at Teagan.
"Prima, you know I am betrothed to Mathilda. What are you doing?"
"Choosing the right woman for you to marry."
"But we can't break what has been called for."
"You can Teagan, all of you boneheads can. It is your choice to love and marry you, love. Don't waste that chance. Because I wish, I only wish I could marry the one I love, but I couldn't."
"What would you like me to do?"
"Call of the wedding, brother," said Malik.
"You too?" Teagan was surprised that Malik agreed with me.
Malik often disagrees with me. Never a day in Egilson that we did not get banter and clash. Most of the time, our father needs to meddle in between us. Father loves me, but he doesn't always take my side. If I did wrong, supposed I made a mistake, I got punished as my brothers do.
"Yes, of course. What Prima feels, we feel. Didn't you see how she treated our sister last night? Didn't you got hurt of what, Mathilda said?"
"Allow me to steal time. I don't know how to tell Mathilda. She might backfire with Prima."
"Let's think of a plan," said Malik.
