Hillary He didn’t respond. Not a yes or a no. He didn’t want to tell me. I weave through the crowd as we exit the film room. The movie’s over, and I hate that I learned things I never needed to know. Outside, I scan for Ben but can’t find him anywhere. I spot Georgia and Leo and hurry over. Georgia fakes a gag. “That movie made me sick.” “Have you seen Ben?” I ignore her. “No,” she shakes her head. “He must’ve gone to the bathroom. Text him and tell him we’re at the bowling alley.” I nod, send the text, and shove my phone back in my pocket. We change into bowling shoes and start to play. Twenty minutes pass, still no Ben, no reply. “I’m going to look for him,” I say. “He’s an adult,” Leo points out. “Yeah, but he’s like a nerdy billionaire or something. What if he got kidnapped?”
