There are a couple of things that happened right before Octavia unleashed her attack. While this is being set up, her allies weren’t just idling around and waiting. As mentioned, they needed to be far away from the ent camp because there is a high possibility that they would be found out by these monsters. All because these creatures have a connection with the earth that allows them to feel the vibrations and sense movements that are near their territory. These also serves as their eyes. Allowing them to have their territory fully secured, as well as a range that is way past it.
