And it did. The item is one of the reasons why all of the missions of his allies thus far has succeeded. This helps them in the tactical aspect right before they begin a fight. Giving them an upper hand by letting them know how many enemies they need to face, what kind of monsters would be waiting for them. As well as potential traps that could be around the area.
