As darkness started to fall, Amari led her vampires and their blood bags through the markers, keeping to the shadows in case a stray beam of sunlight still sprinkled over the black sand, the sky bathed in the rich golden glow of a lowering sun moments before it kisses the horizon and darkness washes over the land.
