The silence from Marko caused Nicole’s heart to plummet to her stomach. “Marko?” She asked as she took his outstretched hand. He squeezed her hand as he led her to where Daniel was sitting with Leoni. “Oh, Lord!” Nicole gasped, her free hand going to her heart. She felt as if her heart was coming out of her chest.
“Liam doesn’t know,” Marko replied stiffly. Getting to where Daniel was seated, he placed a hand on his friend’s shoulder. “Hey man, Liam has been trying to call you.”
Daniel looked up, the smile on his face disappearing as he took in Marko’s blank face and Nicole’s teary one. “I-uh-I left my phone in the car. What’s happened?”
“It’s Lesley, she has been in an accident,” Marko told him. “We are on the way to the hospital now.”
