Nicole was quiet on the drive back home. Not because she was upset by seeing Zeke again, but she was enjoying the friendly banter between her brother and pretend boyfriend. Their relationship seemed very easy for both of them. They seemed to have some things in common. Marko shared some stories from his childhood, prompting Xavier to tease him about it. It was very refreshing to see and hear her brother joke so openly and freely with a man he had just met. She sat back, content at listening to the back and forth banter between the two men.
“You seem very quiet,” Marko commented once they reached their destination. Xavier had already stepped out of the car and headed into the house, citing that he didn’t want the chocolate to melt from the dessert treats they had gotten for their dinner.
