JACE’S POV I sat in the car, my eyes fixed on her door. The lights in her apartment had gone out hours ago, but I was still there like a damn fool who couldn’t let go. I could’ve gone to the hotel downtown, could’ve slept in a real bed, but no. I chose this. The cold leather seat, the silence, and the thought of her just a few steps away, behind that door she wouldn’t open for me if I went back. Suddenly, her light turned back on. I sat upright as I noticed a shadow on her front porch. I stepped out of the car and walked towards the house. When I got closer, I found her neighbor, Javier trying to knock. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” I said.
