Everything happened in a blur. One minute I was talking to Jace, having our usual banter. And the next, he was fighting for his life.
“Help!” I screamed the sound barely breaking through the chaos in my head.
Silas ran toward me with two men I didn’t recognize. One of them shoved past, and I dropped to my knees beside Jace.
“Jace… Jace, stay with me.”
